Skotan Tannery Ltd is one of the biggest and oldest tanneries in Poland, proud of its 150 years of leather tanning history. Main production lines are now calf, pig and bovine leathers for shoe industry.
Skotan Tannery was established in1859 by David Spitzer who came to Skoczów from Czechia. In the beginning it was a tanning workshop producing leathers of different kinds for shoe and furniture industries. It had quickly grown into a regular tannery. In 1928 a company called „Spitzer- Sinajberger” was founded which led to further development of the tannery. In 1906 the company employed almost 40 workers and produced around 160 pieces of bovine leathers a day.
After the Second World War the tannery was nationalized and became part of PZPS Chełmek. It regained its independency in 1989 and was traded, since 1999, on Warsaw Stock Exchange. In 2001 the tannery was bought by a private investor. In 2005 Skotan Tannery Ltd. was separated from Skotan S.A.
Currently Skotan Tannery Ltd. is one of the biggest tanneries in Poland, producing and exporting highest quality calf, bovine and pig leathers.

Calfskins offered by Skotan Tannery Ltd. for shoe, garment and leather goods are highest quality leathers made out of domestic market raw material, which is known as one of the best in the world. Due to the highest possible substance of 1.2 mm, our offer is addressed to producers of high quality ladies shoes. The leathers of highest substance can also be used for production of luxury men shoes. To fulfill our customers’ expectations we offer very wide range of colors and finishes.
Calf sides meet the expectations of these customers, who look for the quality at reasonable price. These leathers can be used for production of luxury shoes, for the production process is very similar to a calf skins.
The widest range of assortments from our offer in different colors and types of finish – from aniline to embossed, is available in substances up to 2 mm and also ranging from very soft (BNMB, BSNF) to box type (BBOX, BBRB). These leathers can be used in shoe industry and also for leather goods.
Pig linings and pig splits are mainly used material for shoe insoles. Using the natural leather for insoles has the greatest impact on user comfort. We recommend using the standard substance of pig lining and pig split which is 0.5-0.7 mm. For production of this type of leathers the highest quality raw material is used, which contributes the most to the quality of final product. We adjust our offer to individual requirements of our customers regarding colors, finishing, substance and other parameters.
